Ardebil is located in northeastern Iran near the Caspian Sea. This name is perhaps reminiscent of the famous Ardebil carpet at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. This carpet was produced in Kashan, but then it was put in the Ardebil mosque and eventually sold to make money from the restoration of the mosque. Caucasian motifs such as Shirvan, Karabagh and Gendie are the sources of inspiration for the carpets produced in Ardebil. These carpets are fine from geometric patterns. To date, most of the production consists of good quality Ardebil runners.
