Using mineral colors in carpet dyeing

Mineral color

Minerals are used for coloring carpets, combined with natural ones create various shades.

The most commonly used minerals for dyeing carpets are as follows:

OCRA: iron ore oxidized in soil. It is used for shades in yellow, brown and red.

MALACHITE: A mineral in deep green, it is actually copper carbonate mixed with copper hydroxide. Used for shades in green.

MANGANESE: metal element. Used for black shades.

VERMIGLION: a heavy red mineral with a metallic luster. It is composed of sulfide from mercury. Used for red shades.

AZZURRITE: a blue/dark mineral blue. It is crystallized and often found with a green malachite mineral. Both are produced by erosion and oxidation from the copper ore. Used for shades in blue.

ARAGONITE: a mineral usually colorless or white. Used for blank shades.

LAPISLAZZULI: blue stones. It consists of a mixture of azurite, calcite, paroxatins and other silicate minerals. Used for shades in blue.
