Vintage means…

Having a vintage decoration is considered as combining furnishings, accessories, and items with color pallets from an earlier period. Many interior designers use vintage or vintage-inspired items to evoke the sense of nostalgia or romantic. While it is common to consider vintage style as a style related to a specific old period, it is also possible to have vintage style even in modern environments.

The vintage style references the 1940s and 1950s where people worked with whatever was available to rebuild their destroyed homes after Second World War. The choice of mix and match materials was the only choice available for people to create a warm and lovely space and the beginning of vintage style comes from this.

Vintage interior design is to create environments of a past period with a touch of romance, using furnishings of soft lines and elegant colors that bring the feeling of the past. The colors in vintage style are usually in fade tones. The deep colors were however used to create a natural impact. Colors such as grey, sand, cream, and beige are primary colors for vintage style. Colors like pale blue, pale lilac or light pink also fit the design – all done to add an effect of consumption during time, noble, and relax feeling to the living space.

Using natural materials such as wood (both painted and distressed), linen, wool, and cotton combined together in an environment with the use of old or artificially aged furniture gives a feeling of and old-fashioned and elegant look to the vintage style interior.

One of the items that helps to create a vintage style is carpet. For creating a vintage interior, using plain carpets or carpets with vintage style can help the environment to be stylish and fashionable. In recent years, with the development of the vintage style in interior design, this new trend emerged in to the carpets weaving as well. Carpets which are already vintage from over 20 years ago or new carpets which are designed with vintage colors and style are choices available for interior designers to add them as the finishing touch in their vintage style space. The vintage carpet is an important object as a piece of furniture in vintage and even modern environments.
