The most common motif is a central medallion surrounded by individual arabesque designs. In some specimens the Nain carpet is decorated with a floral pattern without a medallion. The Nain carpet naming system depends on the number of “La.” “La” is the number of twisted threads in a warp thread showing how fine the design of the carpet is. Nain carpets are classified into 4 “la,” 6 “la,” and 9 “la.” The Nain carpet with 4 “la” has a finer design than the 6 “la” and 9 “la.” The 4 “la” Nain rug is an expensive rug that because of its high value is rare to find.
