Shirvan antique rug East Caucasus

This is a prayer rug recognizable by the arch at the top and the hanging elements, lamps and geometric patterns reminiscent of types in mosques.

The decorative style is reminiscent of 19th-century Caucasian carpets, particularly from the Shirvan area (East Caucasus).

The geometric patterns of the borders and the repetition of the hanging chandeliers are typical of Caucasian prayer rugs, of course the word prayer only a pattern to recognize and distinguish from other designs that has been attributed this term in Western markets.
