KASHAN carpet: The
KASHAN CARPETS
are knotted in a high knot density with the Persian knot style. The warp and weft of the
Kashan carpet
are made of cotton. The wool of the pile is of high quality from the west or east of Iran (Azerbaijan, Kermanshah and Khorasan).The characteristics of Kashan carpet gives the feeling of softness like velvet. Very fine Kashan or Keishan rug s generally use merino wool which is nothing more than wool obtained from merino sheep “a breed of sheep originally bred in Spain” Since this quality of wool gives the rug a soft, lustrous texture.

Kashan rug s and similar in design to Isfahan rugs. The patterns consist of medallions, trees, figurative motifs, and all-over floral motifs with attractive designs. The color variety of Keshan carpet is limited compared to Isfahan carpets. The dominant colors are blue, red and beige, but usually Kashan carpets are known by the blue field.
