Persian art
The story behind all the carpets originates from the most famous one, Pazyryk, which is the first carpet created in the world. This specimen was created in the fifth century B.C. and nearly 2,500 years later, it was restored by Russian scientists in the Pazyryk Valley, south of Novosibirsk.
Pazyryk is a woolen specimen that is ,approximately, a square and the pattern consists of warriors and animals: such as fawns and griffins. It measures 183×200 cm and has a density of about 360,000 knots per square meter. This specimen has the highest knot density compared to today’s carpets.
Pazyryk is originally from Persia and has been stuck in an ice sheet for a long time, which is why it is in good condition even now. This carpet can be admired at the
Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia.
