The city of Isfahan is located in the middle of Iran with the Zagros Mountains on the left and the desert on the right. Isfahan was the Persian capital during the Safavid era. The city is one of the most prized pearls of the Islamic world.
In this city and the area surrounding it, there are several artisan stores. Many of these have worldwide reputations in carpet making such as Seirafian, Davari, Enteshar and Haghighi. The patterns are often inspired by mosque tiles or palace and city gardens. Isfahan carpets are top class in terms of pattern composition, materials and designs.
